A New Post After a Super Long Time…

My life has been kind of hectic since the end of the school year. A lot has happened to me and I’ve been working a lot of nights at my job, making me so exhausted when I come home and during the day that I can’t bring myself to do anything.

First things first, though, I want to say thank you to all of those who have come across my blog and have taken the time to read it. An even bigger thank you to those who comment and ask me questions. You guys are amazing and help me continue on with this.

Some things that have happened recently is I got all A’s an B’s this semester so I’m super proud of that! Other than that, I have some amazing news!! I’LL BE GOING TO JAPAN THIS SUMMER!

I’m going as a part of the Tomodachi Inouye Scholarship and its at the end of the month! I’m so excited since this is my first time in Japan!

Another thing that’s happened was that my friend and I went to Walker Stalker Con in Boston and I got to meet Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan!

I started reading a manga called Tokyo Ghoul which is also a new summer anime that just came out. There’s only two episodes out so far.  It’s really good and I love it! I’m liking the manga better though. The anime doesn’t do it justice.

I’m starting a cosplay for Lulu of League of Legends. I’ve bought all the things I need just for the hat so far. I’m hoping to start with that first and go from there.

My username on LoL is laelatwilight if you want to find me!

There’s a whole ton of stuff going on in my life right now but it’s giving me more to write about here so it’s coming up soon!

And please excuse this long, unedited post! It’s really late tonight and I’m watching a pretty bad horror movie that’s distracting me xD

Professional Cosplay Photos!

I’ve finally got around to emailing the people who took professional photos of my friend and I as Annie and the female titan during Anime Boston! If you don’t already know, these characters are from 進撃の巨人 (Shingeki no Kyojin – Attack on Titan). It’s a really great show so I definitely recommend it!~

Anyways just a quick note of whats going to be happening with this blog: Every Monday and Thursday I will post about the new anime season and all the shows I’ve watched. Monday’s posts will consist of Friday – Monday’s shows and Thursday’s posts will be Tuesday – Thursdays shows.

I’ve also finished ノラガミ (Noragami) and I watched and finished 鬼灯の冷徹 (Hoozuki no Reitetsu) so I’ll try to do the reviews in between the Monday and Thursday posts.

I’m also trying to get the female titan tutorial done soon so that’ll be something to look forward to~

For now, enjoy these photos taken of my friend and I’s cosplays!

The photo below was taken by Daniel Sjolund:

I love the way these photos came out! Thank you guys for taking them and giving me permission to post them!

Cosplay Photos!

These are the photos I took of my cosplays at Anime Boston this year! I’m not going to be posting the professional ones yet because I want to get permission to use them so I’ll be posting those sometime next week.

我妻由乃        Gasai Yuno

未来日記          Mirai Nikki

It was really fun to do this cosplay! I’m usually the type of person who wears a lot of dark colors and I dye my hair black so it was really different for me to have bright pink hair and a purple school uniform. I felt really comfortable in this cosplay though and I can’t wait to wear it again.

Female Titan

進撃の巨人       Attack on Titan

This cosplay took me and my friend FOREVER to put together! My friend was the one who did most of the work so I owe a huge thanks to her! Altogether it took 4ish hours to put on all the makeup. I’ll be posting a somewhat tutorial on doing the body suit and makeup with what materials to use etc.

我妻由乃          Gasai Yuno

未来日記          Mirai Nikki

This was my second day as Gasai Yuno and it was even more fun than on Friday because I used fake blood all over me. It was all up my arms and I put two hand prints on my face (which you can see in the photo).

Tumblr Post

A lot of people took photos of me in both of these cosplays and I’ve found a good amount of my female titan cosplay, I haven’t found any of my Yuno cosplay besides what my friends have posted on tumblr. So if you’ve posted any or seen someone post photos of me, please tell me!!

And an update about the next few posts, I will not be posting photos I took of other cosplayers at Anime Boston. If you would like, you can go to my personal tumblr here where I’ve made an Anime Boston 2014 tag and you can just generally view the Anime Boston tag.

So tomorrow I’ll be taking the day off from posting as I have been sick all week with a cold that I probably got from the convention so I’ll be resting up and preparing for my post on Sunday of a tutorial of my female titan cosplay!

The Anime Boston Experience (2014)

This is an account of what my friends and I did this year at Anime Boston. To me, this is serving as a journal of sorts and a one stop place to find everything if I need it and for those of you who are reading this that hope to go to Anime Boston someday and want a guide to whats it’s like, then you’ve come to the right place! Enjoy!

Friday (March 21st)

This day was a terribly long day! My friends and I left on an early train and we were able to arrive at the convention by 11-ish. We hadn’t gotten our badges yet but, like every year, it’s a very quick process of picking them up if you’ve preregistered. Even if you haven’t preregistered for the convention, it’s still a very quick and easy process! My first year of going to Anime Boston was in 2008 and getting badges was a completely different story. We had to wait about three hours in line to get them and that was just the preregistered line! There hasn’t been any  problem with this line since then so I definitely applaud Anime Boston for being able to figure it out.

BUT actually getting into the con was a different story. They’ve set up bag checks for the past couple years and what this causes is a huge line to just get in. I can understand that it might be necessary to have these bag checks, but they haven’t been able to figure out the best way possible to deal with the huge line that it causes and it’s pretty frustrating. I think my friends and I waited in this line for about an hour this year and it was pretty annoying.

We went to three panels this day: two were of the creation and maintenance of web comics (Guest speakers of the panel include the creators of Spinnerette, Rival Angels, The Dreamer, The Hues, and The Paul Reveres). I also went to a panel about Cosplay photography (hosted by foreverCTY). As a photographer myself, I learned a TON about how much can go into making a photo and how to center around the character the cosplayer is portraying.

Saturday (March 22nd)

So I didn’t do much on this day… My friend and I cosplayed as the female titan and Annie from Attack on Titan and we literally couldn’t take one step without getting our photo taken. It was so much fun though and it’s so rewarding when we finally located where all of these photos have gone to.

Even though we didn’t go to any panels, we did go to the Masquerade. It’s one of our favorite parts of the convention, but I honestly didn’t pay attention to it this year. It didn’t have to do with the quality or anything (everyone did great!), it was just that it was 6 pm, I had been awake since 7 am and I hadn’t eaten or drank anything all day. I lasted long enough to watch the AMV Contest Winners which is my favorite part of the whole thing!

This Years winners of the contest were: Best In Show, Best EditingBest Action, Best Other, Best Fun/Upbeat, Best Drama/Judge’s Choice .

I apologize for most of them being of videos taken of the AMV’s, but I’ll be looking out for the ones in better quality! (P.S. I don’t own any of these videos!! Credit goes to the creators!!)

Later on in the night, I took all the body makeup that I had on for my female titan and put on my Yuno cosplay. We went to get dinner (which was the first food I had eaten that day and it was much needed! – we had gone to Wagamama (an amazing Japanese restaurant) and I definitely splurged on my food!)

After putting on my Gasai Yuno cosplay, I went with my friends to my first late night/whatever goes kind of panel about Yandere which is my favorite character type. It was even more fun because Gasai Yuno is a yandere and some of the other people freaked out when I walked in.

Here is some of the music that was used in the panel to describe what yandere are: here and here. (Both are vocaloid songs).

It was 2 am by this point and we were so exhausted that we went straight back to our hotel room!

Sunday (March 23rd)

This was our relaxing day to do some shopping that we hadn’t done yet. There is the Dealer’s Room with all of the anime merchandise you could ever need and the Artist Alley where people sell their fan art and their own creations. I tried going to a panel about analyzing anime but I was so burnt from this weekend that I couldn’t sit through it (I really wanted to though because I felt it would help a lot with how I write on this blog, but I was just so tired!)

I got my photo taken a ton on this day also since I was wearing my Yuno cosplay, but I added fake blood all over my arms and hand prints on my face. It was kind of sticky but it was so much fun!

We didn’t really do much else after but go home. This weekend was so tiring but it was so much fun!! I can’t wait to post more!

And as a random thing I do ever year is collect business cards. I want to post them here to help promote these amazing people and so I can go back to look at them.

Scheduling For the Next Posts

For the next week(ish), I’ll be posting about Anime Boston 2014! I had such an amazing time there and I’m sad it’s over. My friend and I’s cosplays were a hit and we got our picture taken a TON.

Tuesday (March 31st)

Anime Boston 2014!

Coming up in March is Anime Boston 2014 and I’m so excited!! It’s not coming fast enough!~

One of the only good photos I took of the test run makeup~

This year is my first year legit cosplaying and I’m kind of nervous but I can’t wait to finish it to see how it comes out. My cosplays this year will be the female titan (Attack on Titan), Yukine (Noragami), and maybe Yuno (Mirai Nikki). The cosplay that I got for Yuno I’m not so sure about though because it doesn’t fit slightly so before I decide anything, I need to fix it first. I also have to style/wash the wig for her too so hopefully I can get that done before the con!

Anyways, yesterday I did a test run of the makeup I’ll be using for my female titan cosplay to see if it could last a long period of time and it looks like it can!

Right now though, I haven’t bought my Yukine cosplay and it’s kind of last minute so hopefully once I do that, it’ll come quickly in the mail!
